My first 3D modelling project. This was my assignment in my second year at Uni, learning the program 3DS Max. I fail to remember the specifics of the assignment, however I do know I chose to create a hoverboard. I began by sketching the profiles of the idea, front, top and sides. I imported these into the 3D environment onto planes, so I could create directly to the design. I used the polygonal modelling technique for the more complex shapes, and used a normal plane as the starting point for the base. For the materials I used a metallic red and a semi-gloss white, with propellers having a light green material which emitted a glow effect.
I also experimented with using a ‘Control Object’ and assigning different movements to this object, so that I could control their motion for animating. I rendered a small animation utilising the materials, the glow and some nice warm lighting, you can see that here:
