*handshake + eye contact*, pleasure to meet you :)

My name is Michael, but you can call me Mikey.

I’m a young designer and tinkerer. My experience is in UX, working in a small team. Posed with problems, we used our UX tools to explore the unknown to find a solution. In that time I had the opportunity to work with a great team and great people from government, to not-for profits, large corporates, small businesses and start-ups. Each problem unique, each of their customers different and their needs, individual.

My spare time is spent one of the following ways :

  • 3D Printing/modelling
  • Rebuilding/fixing my drone/s
  • Flying said drone/s
  • Making
  • Bookworming
  • Drawing
  • Gaming
  • Netflix...ing
  • Rowing
  • Or having a beer/whiskey with mates

I’m currently looking to work in a space which bridges the gap between the digital world and physical. With computing being more lightweight and powerful, immediate and connected, there is a rising need for physical products that permeate our digital worlds and vice versa. These products require experiences that are designed to work both digitally, physically and ubiquitously within our world. Being such a seemingly new space, it excites me, I grew up with both of these worlds, playing games on the internet in primary school, driving RC cars with my dad and rowing on the river. We are now starting to see these worlds collide, drones filming, delivering and surveying. Games which permeate the physical space, such as Pokemon Go and sports using small chips on athletes to measure and monitor their status, aid their training and track their plays.

We are living in an interesting time. I want to be a part of it.
